Field Trips

Field trips are a great way to get kids engaged in what they're learning- a trip out of the classroom can spark excitement in a way that a whiteboard never could! And not only that, but a great field trip will carry that excitement back to the classroom for months to come!

A day at the ranch with Silver Stirrup Riding Academy is one of those field trips kids will be talking about, and remember for a lifetime

At Silver Stirrup, we put an emphasis on combining education with so much fun, the kids have no idea it's still a school day! While we have a general program, run much similar to our one-day camps, we also offer the ability to tailor your field trip to what you're kids are learning in school at the time, or combine multiple subjects into the adventure, including history, math, and science, to name a few!

In our General Program, kids learn to...
  • Groom a horse
  • Ride a horse
  • Rope a steer (a fake practice steer)
  • Brand- using a branding iron on wood, that they can then take home with them
  • Bathe a horse (weather permitting)
  • Line Dance
  • And more!
  • The day also includes an arts and crafts station, and a lunch in the park

If you'd like to tailor your field trip to what your kids are learning in school, just let us know what you're looking for and we can make it happen!

Here are some examples of using school subjects here at the ranch:
  • Learning about the Pony Express (American History)
  • Learning to measure and weigh a horse (Math)
  • Learning how breed traits are passed from parents to foal (Science)

Our General Program is $65/child, and is typically run from 9am to 2pm any day during the school week.

*We ask for a 10 child minimum for our General Program, but will be happy to accommodate smaller groups and discuss price and schedule options!
