Also unique in the horse world, our approach is based in using as much positive reinforcement as possible. Not only has it been scientifically proven to be the most effective, but it builds better relationships between human & animal!
The focus of this training program is just as the name sounds: Connection. But it is not only about connection between horse and human-- while this is paramount, it is heavily focused on the connection within the horse: physical, mental, and emotional. All three important.
No different from children not being able to learn in a classroom if they can't see the board, cant understand the language being spoken, are too scared to ask questions or focus, or are in too much physical pain to be able to participate- the mind and body working optimally are both required for learning and achieving goals.
Unfortunately even today, the importance of the horse's physical well being, and their emotional state, are not fully understood... if not entirely overlooked.
This training acknowleges the need for a deep understanding of a horse's biomechanics, from the importance of their hooves, to their teeth, with everything in between: musculoskeletal function, fascia, nerves, and digestion- all of which can have a huge effect on them.
We Offer:
Helping owner/horse with their connection and goals

Did you know that a horse's sense of smell is similar to that of a dog's? Did you know their vision is very unclear close up, but they can detect movement better than we can? Did you know that improper balance in the horse's hooves can cause pain and compensation in their entire body? Did you know horses are biologically designed to hide pain as much as they possibly can, so when lamenesses show up, it's often an issue that has been present for weeks, or even months prior to you noticing?
This training approach is holistic. There is an emphasis on understanding the horse completely so that the training is fair and makes sense, to horse and human. And we address everything holistically for the human, too- rider biomechanics are just as relevent as the horse's. And, where are you mentally today? Horses know when you are present. Or, is your issue stemming from not communicating clearly? Do you know exactly where your body is and what it's doing, at all times?
If you want obedience from your horse, this is not the training program for you.
As a team, we'll look at your horse (and you/your partnership) completely. We will look at his daily life, his overall balance and physical abilities, his feet, his teeth, his tack, his footing, his background if we know it, and the connection he has with his person. Together we will look at what makes the horse and human team both feel safe, and clear, and what each want and understand. We will figure out ways to make things as fun as possible for both of you, as often as possible. While there will be times that certain exercises may be uncomfortable either physically or otherwise( for one or both of you), which may be necessary for growth or physical development, it is important that we never push too far, and build on a scale weighted HEAVILY on the enjoyable side, so that you each trust each other to get through the hard parts.
Our goal is to help you reach yours without force or stress, but instead with a deep connection between horse and human, and the undestanding of the connection of all the parts. If you're ready to be realistic about your goals with your horse, patient enough to get there at the pace both of you need, and excited to have fun doing it, reach out!
See our Hoof Care page for more info, and keep a lookout for our Bodywork page soon!
*There are currently no veterinarians on our team, and we cannot and do not diagnose. We always encourage regular communication with your vet (and your trainer/hoof care provider if we are providing other/partial services), and we love being able to communicate with them as a team as well with the owner's permission.
